Writ for judicial probe into Inu’s remarks on lawmakers dismissed
Dhaka: The High Court on Tuesday rejected a writ petition filed seeking its directives for judicial investigation into the recent remarks of Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu blaming MPs for 'stealing' money from Test Relief (TR) and Food For Work (Kabikha) programmes.
An HC bench comprising Justice Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and Justice JN Deb Choudhury rejected the petition saying it was not pressed before the court, reports UNB.
Earlier on 26 July 26, Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Eunus Ali Akond filed the writ petition with the High Court.
On 25 July, the Information Minister at a programme in the city said half of the money of TR and Kabikha programmes goes to the pockets of MPs.
Amid fierce criticisms and strong protests by MPs, the minister apologised in parliament the following day.
