2 siblings found dead, mother held
Police detained the mother on early Saturday after throat-slit bodies of two minor siblings were found in a house in the Dhaka South city’s Basabo area on Friday night.
Tanjina, mother of the victims was held from the Sabujbag area of Dhaka South City at about 4:00am on Saturday, Sabujbag police station officer-in-charge (OC) Kuddus Fakir told NTV Online.
She will be sent to a Dhaka court, the OC added.
Father of the minors, Mahbubur Rahman, is planning to file a case in this connection, said police.
The deceased are identified as Mashrafi Bin Mahbub Abrar, 7, son of Mahbubur Rahman, and his (Abrar) sister Humaira Binte Mahbub Tawkia.
Talking to reporters, Mabub, also an official of Dhaka Wasa, said he found the door of their house locked from outside when he returned after saying Esa prayers at a local mosque.
Later, he entered the house by opening it only to find the slaughtered bodies of the two siblings on the bedroom.
However, he did not find their mother Tanzir Rahman at the house.
Informed by locals, police recovered the bodies of the children from the room of the house at 157/2 of Uttar Basabo near Sabujbagh Community Centre at about 10:00pm, said Sabujbagh Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Kuddus.
Mother of the two siblings Tanzir Rahman went into hiding after the incident, he said.
Quoting locals, the OC also said Tanzir is mentally ill.
