RAB arrests 4 female ‘JMB members’
Dhaka: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members arrested four suspected female members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) -- an intern of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and three students of Manarat International University—from Dhaka and Gazipur cities on Monday.
The elite force also recovered jihadi books, documentaries, and audio and video CDs from their possession.
The arrestees are Aklima Rahman Moni, Oishee, Mou and Meghla. Of them, Oishee is an intern of DMCH and head of the female unit of the banned outfit while the three others are 4th year Pharmacy Department students of Manarat International University.
Briefing reporters at the RAB-4 battalion headquarters at Paikpara of Mirpur on Tuesday, its commander Khandker Lutful Kabir said the elite force conducted drives at Moghbazar and Mirpur-1 in the capital and Board Bazar of Gazipur city from 2 am to 10 pm on Monday and arrested the four suspected female JMB members.
He said the arrestees were involved in collecting fund for the New JMB.
The arrests were made following information provided by detained Mahmudul Hasan, southern zone ameer of New JMB, Lutful Kabir said.
RAB arrested Mahmudul from Gazipur on July 21.
