BNP leader Rizvi sent to jail on surrender
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Thursday sent BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi to jail rejecting his bail pleas in five separate violence cases, reports UNB.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Quamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order when the BNP leader surrendered before his court and prayed for bail.
Of the five cases, two are filed with Pallabi Police Station and one each with Ramna, Khilgaon and Motijheel police stations for carrying out subversive activities during hartal and blockade programme enforced by the BNP-led 20-Party Alliance in 2015 and 2013.
Rizvi’s lawyer Advocate Sanaullah Mia filed the bail petitions.
Besides, the court granted bail to the senior BNP leader in a violence case filed with Jatrabari Police Station.
Earlier on 11 August, a Dhaka court issued warrants for the arrest of 56 people, including BNP leader Rizvi, in two of the violence cases, filed with Motijheel and Khilgaon police.
