Bashundhara chairman asked to surrender within 8 weeks
Dhaka: The High Court on Thursday ordered Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan to surrender before a Gazipur court for encroaching and digging a government-owned land and interfering in government works.
“The court has asked Bashundhara Group chairman to surrender before Gazipur trial court within eight weeks,” BSS reported deputy attorney general Sheikh AKM Moniruzzaman Kabir as saying.
A High Court division bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice JBM Hassan passed the order.
According to the case documents, Shafipur Union Tahshildar Mokhlesur Rahman Khan filed the case with the Kaliakoir Police in Gazipur on May 13, 2010, against more than fifty persons including chairman of Banshudhara Group Sobhan.
Sobhan was under bail in the case and pleaded for extending the bail tenure recently.
Today the High Court passed the order after hearing Sobhan’s plea.
