3 BTCL employees held in custody over corruption charges
Chittagong: Three employees of Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTCL) in Chittagong were remanded in custody on Thursday in connection with a corruption case.
BTCL executive engineer Pradip Das, head assistant Giasuddin and telephone operator Humayun Kabir are facing charges of taking bribes and embezzlement.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmul Hossain passed the order denying bail and sent them to custody after they had been placed before the court.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested the employees from BTCL office at Nandan Kanon in the Chittagong city on Wednesday while they were trying to take bribes form a retired employee of the company.
ACC employees also seized some savings papers from the telecommunications employees.
Later deputy assistant director of ACC, Manik Lal Dash filed two cases against them with the Kotwali police station.
