Dhaka: Police in a drive detained 18 leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir in Dhaka’s Badda area early on Friday.

Identities of the detainees could not be known immediately. Police claimed the arrestees are active members of Jamaat and its student wing.

Badda Police Officer-in-charge Abdul Jalil said being tipped off; a team of police launched a drive at Islamic International School at DIT project in Merul area of Baddha and detained 18 Jamaat-Shibir activists while they were holding a clandestine meeting.
