20 BCL men among 35 charged for attacking police in Sylhet
Sylhet: A case was filed against 35 men, including leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), in connection with an attack on police in Ambarkhana area of the city on Monday.
Shahin Mia, sub-inspector of Kotwali, filed the case against 20 identified BCL men and 15 unidentified men on Monday night. Masud Kamal Sufi, former vice-president of BCL central unit was among the accused, according to a UNB report.
Suhel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police, said six policemen were injured in an attack by BCL men over controlling traffic as a group of BCL men led by Masud Kamal Sufi tried to enter into Ambarkhana area defying police obstruction on the occasion of Uras festival of Hazrat Shah Jalal (Rh) on Monday night.
Police also arrested ten activists from the spot.
