Dhaka: Police on Tuesday issued a security advice urging the Puja Udjapan Committees to take necessary security measures during the celebration of Janmashtami across the country.

Police urged the committees to install hand-metal detectors and archways to avert any untoward incident during Janmashtami, one of the biggest religious festivals of the Hindu Community to be celebrated on Thursday, reports BSS.

According to a release, the police forces requested all Hindu devotees to refrain from carrying handbags while entering Puja mandaps.

It added that the police requested the committees to bring the surroundings of the Puja Mandaps under Close Circuit Television (CCTVs) Cameras surveillance and make arrangement for video recordings during the Janmashtami celebration.

The release also said the committees are requested to arrange separate gates for male and female devotees along with installing CCTV cameras on routes of the Janmashtami procession and ensuring visual recording of the procession.

Besides, it urged the committees to ensure sufficient lights, standby generators, safe drinking water and sanitation management.

Police also urged the Puja Udjapan Committees to maintain fixed time to start procession and end it.
