40 missing people might have link to militancy: IGP
Dhaka: The Police Headquarters has prepared a list of 40 missing people, most of whom might have link to militancy, says Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque.
‘We’ve prepared the list with the help of detectives, and published it after talking to the family members of those missing people who suspect that most of them have involvement in militancy,’ said the IGP on Wednesday.
He was talking to reporters over the current law-and-order situation at the Police Headquarters, reports UNB.
‘If those young men who are in the dark path of militancy due to provocation of others want to return to normal life we’ll provide all-out support, and I believe the society will consider it,’ he said.
Responding to the call made by police earlier some young men have returned to normal life and their identities have been kept secret so that they can lead the normal life, said Shahidul.
In reply to a question about BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s doubt over Kalyanpur drive, the IGP said, ‘The remark of Khaleda Zia about Kalyanpur drive is shocking. Such remarks will help the militants,’ he said.
He also termed the Kalyanpur drive as hundred percent successful and transparent.
