Dhaka: Detectives in a drive arrested eight alleged members of a fake currency syndicate and seized Tk52 lakh counterfeit notes in different parts of Dhaka on Thursday.

Identities of the arrestees could not be known immediately.

Tipped off, Detective Branch of police launched a drive in different parts of Dhaka and arrested the eight along with fake currency notes worth Tk52 lakh and some equipment for making forging currency notes, said Deputy Commissioner (media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Masudur Rahman.

Details of the arrest will be informed at a press briefing later, he added.
