Farmer crushed to death by elephants in Sherpur

Sherpur: A farmer was trampled to death by a herd of marauding elephants at Julgaon village in Sribordi upazila early on Friday.
Forest Department official Nuhush Chandra Hajong said Dudu Mia, was guarding crops fields in the bordering area against attack of wild elephants on Thursday.
At one stage, a herd of wild elephants coming from the forest swooped on Dudu Mia while he was asleep in a shed at about 4:00am and trampled him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Some crops were also damaged by the elephants.
Upazila Executive Officer Khaleda Nasrin and forest officials visited the spot in the morning.
