Dhaka: Police on Thursday arrested a BNP-backed councillor candidate from the city’s Kalyanpur area.

The arrested was identified as Kawsar Ahmed, a BNP-backed councillor candidate of word no 11 of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Mirpur police Officer-in-Charge Salauddin confirmed the incident saying police arrested the councillor candidate from his residence in Kalyanpur.

Kawsar was accused in several cases including some that have been charge sheeted.
