Dhaka: A court in Dhaka on Sunday granted police six days to interrogate Abdus Sabur, one of the alleged plotters arrested in connection with the murder of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipan and murder attempt on another publisher Ahmedur Rashid Tutul.

Dhaka Additional chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam passed the order when DB inspector Bahauddin Farooki placed him before the court seeking 10-day police custody.

Earlier, on Saturday, detectives arrested Abdus Sabur alias Raju alias Saad alias Samad alias Sujon from Tongi railway station in Gazipur.

Following the confessional statement of Sumon Hossain, another accused in the case, arrested on 16 June, DB police conducted a drive and arrested Sabur.

On 31 October, last year, two blogger publishers— Ahmedur Rashid Tutul and Faisal Arefin Dipan— were hacked brutally in two separate terror strikes.

Later, Faisal Arefin Dipan, owner of Jagriti Publications, died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital while Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, owner of Shuddhashwar, survived the attack.
