3 suspects held over Jessore UC chairman killing

Benapole: Police arrested three people including a woman for their alleged involvement in the killing of newly elected union council Chairman Abul Kashem in Raghunathpur Burindia villages of Jessore early on Monday.
The arrestees are Kabir Hossain, Kabir’s sister-in-law Dolly Begum, wife of Abdus Shukur, and Wadud, of Burindia village.
The Jessore Kotwali Police Officer-in-charge Elias Hossain said tipped off, a team of police conducted separate drives at Raghunathpur and Burindia villages and arrested them in the dead of night.
Earlier on 2 September, Abul Kashem, chairman of Pashapole union council in Chowgachha upazila, also a local Awami League leader, was found dead in Shashtitala Para of Jessore town.
Informed by local people, a team of Jessore Kotwali Police Station recovered the body of Kashem from the spot.
