2 ‘robbers’ killed in mob attack
Savar: Two suspected robbers were killed in a reported lynch-mob attack at Hindu Bhakurta village in Savar, on the outskirts of the capital, early Saturday.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Anwarul, sub-inspector of Savar Police Station, said a gang of robbers, numbering 10-12 swooped on the house of one Sunil at about 3:00am and looted valuables after keeping the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.
At one stage, the robbers stabbed Sunil as he tried to resist them.
Hearing screams for help, local people rushed in and caught two robbers after a hot chase while the others managed to flee the scene.
The villagers then gave them a tremendous thrashing, leaving them dead on the spot.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to local hospital morgue.
