Dhaka: Three young men entered into the showroom of electronics appliances brand LG in North Dhaka’s Gulshan area for thieving, said the officials of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

RAB 1 deputy commanding officer Major Azam at about 1:00pm told reporters the miscreants who stormed into the LG showroom early on Tuesday, went there for robbery.

After hours of panic, the law-enforcers finished an operation without finding the young men. However, police found two bags from the store and called the bomb disposal unit.

Later, police recovered 17 LG mobile phone sets, and three screwdrivers. It has been believed the thieves used the tools for breaking the locks of the store.

RAB said office of MD Royal Securities, which is on the fifth floor of the building, was also found messed up.

MD Royal Securities authorities said they were robbed of around Tk 4lakhs and some urgent documents. Police also found lock of the agency’s cash box broken.

Major Azam said the miscreants entered into the building through a window and escaped from the spot after cutting grill of a window.

The RAB official said close-circuit cameras were not installed on the store.

Earlier, law-enforcers cordoned off the building as suspicious presence of miscreants was reported at about 9:30am. Later, law-enforcers team, led by Major Azam, conducted a raid on the building.
