Cop among 6 shot at AL rally

Faridpur: At least six people, including a police officer, were injured by stray bullets at Awami League (AL) presidium member Kazi Zafarullah’s street rally at Kawlibera in Bhanga, Faridpur on Saturday morning.
Bhanga Police Station assistant sub-inspector Ratan Kumar Mandal said stray bullets from the licensed short gun of district AL leader Dipak Majumdar’s struck seven people, including a policeman, while they were attending the street rally of the party’s presidium member Kazi Zafarullah at about 9:00am, leaving them injured.
Bhanga police officer-in-charge Nazmul Islam with five others injured in the incident.
Of the injured, two were admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in while five others received first aid. Kazi Zafrullah is well now, police added.
The injured are activists of AL. They are Gani Matubbar, Saheb Ali, Farhad Matubbar and Imarat Hossain.
Identity of another injured could be known immediately, police added.
