Dhaka: Two people were killed and another injured as a bus hit their rickshaw near RAJUK Bhahan of Motijheel early on today, said the Motijheel police.

The deceased are rickshaw-puller Khokon, and Fatima Begum, one of the passengers of the vehicle, while the injured is Noorjahan Begum, who was also a passenger of the rickshaw.

Traffic police constable Mojibur Rahman said a ATCL bus hit the Motijheel-bound rickshaw from Sadargaht at about 8:00am and left the rickshaw-puller and two passengers injured.

Later, they were sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where Khokon was declared dead and Fatima died of her fatal injuries at about 9:30am.

The bodies were sent to hospital morgue and Noorjahan is undergoing treatment at DMCH, said DMCH authorities.

Meanwhile, police seized the vehicle and detained its driver Mohammad Hanif, said Motijheel Police duty officer.

No case was filed in this connection.
