Dhaka: Two people were killed when a bus hit a rickshaw in Dhaka’s Motijheel area on Wednesday.

The deceased are Nur Jahan Begum, 55, an employee of an electronic goods marketing company and riskchaw puller Khokon Mia, 40.

Quoting family members of Nur Jahan and witnesses, police said Nur Jahan, hailed from Rangamati, was going to her Motijheel office by a rickshaw in the morning.

When she reached near Bangbhaban crossing at about 7:30am, a bus of BTCL Paribahan rammed the rickshaw, leaving the rickshaw puller dead on the spot and the passenger injured.

Nur Jahan succumbed to her injuries when she was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital at about 8:20am.

The bodies were sent to DMCH morgue for postmortem.
