Teacher in Chittagong, imam in Sylhet found dead
A college teacher in Chittagong and an imam in Sylhet were found dead on Thursday.
Police recovered the body of college teacher, Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury, from his house at Arakan Housing Society area in Chittagong on Thursday.
Iqbal Hossain Chowdhury (50) was a management teacher of Pahartali College in the city and was from Sadhanpur village at Banshkhali upazila of the district.
Panchlaish Police Station officer-in-charge Mohiuddin Mahmud said victim’s wife found the house door closed at about 2:00pm after returning from her workplace and later she informed police as she did not get any response from inside the house.
Law enforcers rushed in and entered the house breaking open the door only to see Iqbal lying dead in a bathroom with his legs tied with a rope, reports UNB.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, the OC added.
Details were not received immediately.
Meanwhile, police recovered the hanging body of an imam from his room at Dakkhin Mobarakpur (Andarkona) Jam-e Mosque in Osmaninagar upazila in Sylhet on Thursday.
Deceased Abdur Rahman, son of Abdul Bari of Sonapur village at Moglabazar.
Police and local people said devotees found the hanging body of Rahman in his room of the mosque when they went to the mosque to say Fajr prayers and informed police.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the body that bored several injury marks and sent it to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue, reports UNB.
Contacted, officer-in-charge of Osmaninagar Police Station Abdul Awal Chowdhury said miscreants might have strangulated the imam to death in his room and hanged the body with ceiling.
