Jessore: Police claimed to have detected involvement of six members of a family of Jessore in militant activities.
Those whose link with militancy was found are Tanjib alias Ashraful, son of Abdul Aziz of Kosba- Kadamtola area of the district town, his brother Tanjir Ahmed, their sisters Masuma Akter and Maksuda Khatun, Maksuda’s husband Shakir Ahmed and Masuma’s husband Najmul Hasan.
The disclosure was made at a press briefing by Superintendent of Police Anisur Rahman of Jessore at his office on Tuesday.
The SP said police arrested Tanjib, a ‘moshrek’ of banned militant outfit Hizb-ut Tahrir, on 20 September, 2015, but he was later released from jail on bail in May last.
Police also arrested Tanjib’s younger brother Tanjir and younger sister Masuma Akter with a laptop, but they were also released on bail as the prosecution did not oppose their bail petition.
The trio along with three other suspected militants from the family—Maksuda, her husband Shakir, and Masuma’s husband Najmul—are now at large.
Police also published a poster with photos of 11 suspected operatives of Hizb-ut Tahrir.
Two among them—Musabbir alias Prokash alias Tonmoy, in his thirties, and Harez Ali, around 27years—reportedly facilitated training to other members of the outfit.
Three other militants featured in the poster are Nazimuddin alias Noksha Nazim from Monirampur upazila, Mahiuddin Chachra Berbari area and Mehedi Hasan alias Jim alias Hussain.
Anisur said the judges granted bail to the militants as the prosecution did not oppose their bail plea.
