5 cops, 3 ‘militants' hurt in police drive at Azimpur ‘militant den’ in Dhaka
Dhaka: Five policemen sustained injuries in a reported gunfight during a raid at a suspected militant den in Azimpur area of Dhaka on Saturday.
Three suspected female militnats were also injured in the incident, reports UNB.
The injured constables are Shahjahan, Mahtab Uddin, Jahir Uddin, Bablu, and Ram Chandra.
Tipped off, a team of the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime(CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) launched the drive at the suspected militant den at 209/5, Azimpur Road in the area at about 8:00pm, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman.
When the law enforcers tried to enter the house, some ‘militants’ hacked the policemen with sharp weapons and opened fire at them, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
Five policemen and three others, including suspect female militant Sharmin, 25, were injured in the fight, he said.
