Kalboishakhi kills 8

Eight people were killed and 15 injured as Kalboishakhi swept over Kishoreganj and Mymensingh on Saturday night.

The deceased are Hazrat Ali and his son Rijon Ali, residents of Kajihati village in Pakundia upazila, Abdul Mannan, a resident of Kajirchar village in Katiadi upazila, Shital Chandra Barman, a resident of Dariakandi village in Kuliarchar upazila and Rima of Bajitpur upazila.

Police said Hazrat Ali and his son Rijon Ali died on the spot as a tree branch fell on their house during the storm.

Abdul Mannan was killed when the roof of his tin-shed house collapsed on him during the storm. Meanwhile, Shital Chandra Barman, an auto-rickshaw driver, died on the spot as a tree fell on his vehicle during the storm.

Rima, a teenage girl, died as a tee branch fell on her while she was collecting mangoes.

In Mymensingh, three people were killed and 15 others injured as Kaloboishakhi swept over Phulbaria, Trisal and Muktagachha upazilas of the district on Saturday night.

The deceased are Abdul Karim, Jalal and Ilias Ali.

Police said Abdul Karim died on the spot and five others were injured as a tree fell on his shop during the storm at Randha Kanai Bazar in Phulbaria upazila in the night.

In another incident, Jalal of Santoshpur village in Muktagachha upazila was killed and 10 others were injured when a tree fell on him during the storm.

Besides, Ilias Ali was killed when a thunderbolt struck him at Balipara village in Trisal upazila amid storm at night.
