Cox’s Bazar chopper crash kills 1
Cox’s Bazar: A man was killed and four others injured as a chopper of a private aviation company crashed on the sea beach of Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar on Friday morning.
The deceased is Shah Alam, an official of an advertising agency, also resident of Dhaka.
Cox’ Bazar Airport Manager Shadhan Kumar Dhar said a helicopter of Meghna Aviation, carrying five people including the pilot, crashed on the sea beach area near Rizu Khal at Ukhiya shortly after it took off from Inani in Cox’s Bazar at about 9:30am.
The injured were taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital. Later, they were flied to Dhaka for after receiving primary treatment.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members, police, and fire fighters are working to recover the remains of the copter.
However, Inani Police camp Sub-inspector Arif said the accident took place due to technical glitch while the helicopter was returning just after dropping national cricketer Shakib Al Hassan at the helipad of Hotel Royal Tulip in Inani.
Shakib went to Cox’s Bazar for filming of a television commercial. The chopper crashed after leaving Inani carrying employees of advertising agency.
Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of police Shyamal Kumar Nath said the chopper travelled to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka at about 7:00am.
