Cox’s Bazar: National team cricketer Shakib Al Hassan had a lucky escape from a fatal chopper crash, which left a man killed, at Ukhiya in Cox’s Bazar on Friday morning.

The private copter of Meghna Aviation Limited crashed near Rizu Khal area in Ukhiya shortly after dropping Shakib Al Hassan at the helipad of Royal Tulip Hotel in Inani.

Shakib went to Cox’s Bazar for filming of a television commercial.  The chopper crashed after leaving Inani carrying employees of advertising agency.

The deceased is Shah Alam, an official of advertising agency. However, five people including the pilot, Shafiqul Islam, were injured during the accident. The injured were fly to Dhaka for after receiving primary treatment.

Cox’s Bazar Superintendent of police Shyamal Kumar Nath said the chopper travelled to Cox’s Bazar from Dhaka at about 7:00am.

Cox’s Bazar Airport Manager Shadhan Kumar Mahanta said the copter crashed due to technical glitch.
