BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s motorcade came under attack at Kawran Bazar in Dhaka on Monday during her city election canvass for the party-backed mayoral candidate Tabith Awal.

When the motorcade reached the Petrobangla building, a group of young persons attacked her motorcade at about 6:00pm.

The attackers swooped on the vehicles shouting 'Joy Bangla' slogans. They broke several vehicles with wooden sticks.

It is not sure whether BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia had any wounds.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack.

Earlier on Monday Awami league joint general secretary Mahbub ul Alam Hanif said Awami League leaders and activists will take over the BNP leader during her electoral canvass.
