Robot, intelligence devices seized at Dhaka airport
Dhaka: The custom intelligence officials seized an illegally imported robot and other spy devices at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
On 8 September, the custom officials temporarily grabbed 24 carton-boxes weighing 325 kilogram and carrying illegal imported equipment.
The authorities disclosed the seizure of a robot, which weighs around 15 kilogram, and other devices used in intelligence work, on Monday, after examining the carton-boxes.
The custom department said the robot features with a remote control camera and a music box. Primarily it has been known that the robot is used in developed countries for medical services.
The custom intelligence officials said they conducted a drive at airfreight unit and seized the carton-boxes during the release of the consignment arrived in Dhaka from China.
The officials seized the robot, which is a Health Care Robot, several spy devices, 120 smart watches, 10 mini digital cameras, 25 pen cameras, 63 Ethernet switches, 25 antennas, 19 base stations and other networking gears.
The custom officials said an electric device supply organisation — Mrs Global Communications at Shah Amanat City Corporation Market in Chittagong — imported the consignment via a fake declaration. However, another agency, Mrs Kum Traders, was also involved in the trafficking as Clearing and Forwarding agent.
