Dhaka: A rickshaw puller sustained bullet injuries as a bullet ‘inadvertently’ came out from a police constable's shotgun in Dhaka South City’s Paltan crossing on Tuesday.

Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said rickshaw puller Md Hanif, 35, son of Fazlul Hoque, hailing from Muradnagar in Comilla, was crossing Paltan intersection at about 3:30pm.

Suddenly a rubber bullet came out from the shotgun of an on-duty police constable inadvertently, leaving the rickshaw-puller injured at his right hand, back and abdomen.

The injured was rushed to the DMCH where he was given first aid. Later, he was taken to Kakrail Islami Bank Central Hospital.

The incident took place accidentally, said Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Anwar Hossain.

Additional Deputy Commissioner ( Motijheel Division) has been asked to investigate the matter.

Necessary steps will be taken after the report of the ADC, said the DC.

‘Rickshaw puller Hanif is quite all right. He will be given better treatment,’ he added.
