8 killed in Savar bank robbery attempt

Savar: 7 people were killed and 20 others injured when robbers opened fire at a branch of Bangladesh Commerce Bank at Ashulia of Savar in Dhaka on Tuesday at about 2:30pm.
The deceased are branch manager Aliullah,security guard Ibrahim, trader Monir Hossain, Shahabuddin Polash, Zillur Hossain, Nur Mohammad and Jamir.
One suspected robber was lynched during the attack, said police.
Witness and police said a group of 12/15 people, ridering motorcycle, went to the Bank as clients.
Suddenly the branch manager and officials found themselves hostage at gunpoint. The attackers created terror exploding bombs and opening fire.
During their reckless firing, branch manager Aliullah and security guard Ibrahim were shot dead.
Local people surrounded the robbers after the robbing incident was announced through the PA of a mosque .
Trader Monir Hossain, Polash, and Zillur died as several others were injured as robbers started firing recklessly.
Agitated locals chased the robbers and lynched one of them.
Later two of the injured Nur Mohammad and Jamir died at the Enam Medical College and Hospital undergoing treatment, said police.
Police set up check posts at different spots of Bishmail-Jirabo road. Later at night they arrested two suspected robbers Borhan and Saiful.
