4 of a family burnt as fire breaks out in house

Dhaka: Four members of a family, including two children, were burnt as fire broke out at their tin-shed house in Lalbagh area of Dhaka in the early hours of Thursday.

The injured were admitted to Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The injured were Rejaul, around 26 years old, his wife Rani, in her twenties, and their daughters Anika, 3 years old, and Sanjida, who is only two.

Rejaul said the fire caught after he rubbed a match along the matchbox at about 2:00am.

The house owner Jahangir said the reason behind the fire incident could not be known. He claimed there was no gas leakage.

Jahangir said the fire was doused before it engulfed all over the house. Later, local people recovered Rejaul and his family members and took them to DMCH Burn Unit.

Burn Unit physician said Rejaul sustained 14 per cent of burn injuries, while Rani burnt 26 per cent, Anike 26 per cent, and Sanjida has 47 per cent of burn injuries.

Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police camp Sub-inspector (SI) Bacchu Mia confirmed that four burn injured of a family were admitted to the hospital.
