Dhaka to get 4 more new passport offices soon: Asaduzzaman
Dhaka: Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Monday said four more passport offices will be set up in the capital Dhaka within the shortest possible time.
‘Work for establishing four more new regional passport offices at Secretariat, Cantonment, eastern and western side of the capital is on progress,’ he said while inaugurating the Uttara Regional Passport Office at section-5 in Uttara here.
He said the Department of Immigration and Passports has 67 offices in 64 districts and of the offices, 32 offices are housed in its own buildings.
The minister said a total of 1.50 crore people are presently holding Machine Readable Passport (MRP).
The government earned about Taka 7000 crore revenue from the passport department, he said.
The home minister reiterated that the government would start making e-passport immediately to cope with the modern world.
