Jessore: Associates snatched away a mugging case accused from police at Ayapur on the Jessore-Narail Highway in Bagharpara upazila of Jessore on Monday afternoon.

The Bagharpara Police Officer-in-charge Soiruddin said local people caught three alleged muggers and handed them to police after beating him on Sunday.

The three with injuries were admitted to Bagharpara upazila health complex from where one of them, Azadur Rahman Khan, was referred to Jessore Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.

Later, some associates of the arrestees surrounded a three-wheeler carrying Azadur Rahman Khan at Ayapur on the Jessore-Narail Highway and snatched away him when a team of police was taking him to Jessore Medical College Hospital at about 3:00pm on Monday.

Four police members were also injured during the incident.
