6 hurt as water tank blasts in Dhaka
Dhaka: Six people were injured in an explosion in a water reserve tank while cleaning it at a house in Dhanmondi area of Dhaka on Wednesday, reports UNB.
The six injured were security guard Abed Ali, 23, and five labours -- Saddam Hossain, 30, Abdur Razzak, 23, Masum Ali, 24, Shirin Akhter, 27, and Razzak, 50.
Sub-inspector Bachchu Miah, also in-charge of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said the explosion took place at about 10:30pm as one of the workers lighted a cigarette while clearing the tank on the ground floor of the house on road no 4, leaving six people injured.
Later, they were admitted to the burn unit of the DMCH.
Abed Ali sustained 30 percent burn while Saddam 38 percent, Abdur Razzak 27 percent, Masum 49 percent, Shirin 20 percent, and Razzak 38 percent, said the police officer.
