Man found dead in Jessore

Jessore: Police claimed to recover a bullet-hit body of a young man in the Mathurapur area at Sadar upazila of Jessore in the early hours of Thursday.
Local people said the deceased is Azadur Rahman Tokon, in his thirties, one of the three muggers who were beaten by locals at Bagharpara of Jessore on 26 September.
On 27 September, he escaped from police custody. Tokon was a resident of the village of Makimpur village at Harinakundu in Jhenaidah, said police.
However, Tokon was also convicted and sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment in arms cases. Police said the bullet-hit deceased face resembled with Tokon.
Police also recovered a one-shooter gun, and a bullet from the spot.
The Kotowali police Officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Ilias Hossain said being informed that two groups of miscreants involved in a gunfight against each other on Jessore-Jhenaidah road, police went to the spot.
Police opened fire to drive away the miscreants from near Mathurapur Filling Station. Later, the miscreants fled away from the spot and police found the bullet-hit body.
Police took the body to Jessore General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Jesssore General Hospital Emergency Unit physician M Abdur Rashid said the body has a bullet wound on the head.
