2 killed in clash

Benapole: Two people, including a local Union Council member, were killed and five others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over cutting roadside trees at Raghunathpur village in Benapole Port area on Friday.
The deceased are Abdullah, in his forties, a member of Bahadurpur Union Parishad and Azgar, believed to be 42, of the village.
The Benapole Port police said the clash broke out around 9:00am as Abdullah obstructed Azgar as he along with his men were set to cut down the trees in the area.
At one stage, both groups equipped with sharp weapons attacked each other, trigging a clash that left Abdullah dead on the spot and injured six others.
The injured were taken to Sharsha Upazila Health Complex.
As Azgar’s condition was stated to be critical he was sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
