Dhaka: Detectives in a drive on Thursday night detained two people from Tongi in Gazipur in connection with Tuesday’s daring robbery attempt that left eight people killed at a bank in Ashulia.

The identities of the detainees are yet to be disclosed.

Shyamal Kumar Mukherjee, additional superintendent of Dhaka district police, confirmed this.

With the fresh arrest, the number of arrestees in the case now stands at four as earlier police arrested another two people.

Earlier on Tuesday, at least eight people, including the bank manager and a robber, were killed and 23 others injured during a robbery bid at a branch of Bangladesh Commerce Bank Ltd at Kathgora in Ashulia.
