Bhola: Two fishermen were killed and two others injured when a thunderbolt struck them in the Meghna river in Manpura upazila on Monday night.

Alauddin Hawladar, chairman of Manpura Union Parishad, said the four fishermen-Abdul Jalil , 65, Shakil, 15, Sharif and Soleman were catching fish in Kalatoli area of the river at about 11:30am.

At one stage, a streak of lightning struck their trawler, leaving Jalil and Shakil dead on the spot and two others injured.

The injured were taken to Lalmohon upazila health complex, UNB reported.
