Govt adopts roadmap for 24,000MW power generation: Nasrul
Dhaka: The government has adopted a roadmap for increasing power generation capacity to 24,000 MW by 2021 to ensure electricity for all.
‘Thirty power plants with generation capacity of 10,743MW are under construction and the plants would go into operation from 2016 to 2021,’ State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said while replying to a question from treasury bench member Begum Sanjida Khanam in the Jatiya Sangsad today.
The government has undertaken a plan to construct 32 other power plants having capacity of 5,259 MW and the plants are now under tender procedure, he said adding, ‘The power plants are expected to go into operation from 2018 to 2023 in phases.’
The government has another plan to construct nine more power plants with 6,895 MW under the roadmap, the state minister informed the House.
