JMB financer’ Abdur Rahman dies in RAB custody

Savar: Alleged financer of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), Abdur Rahman, who suffered injuries in a raid by Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), died at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar on Saturday night.

According to a text message sent to journalists from the RAB headquarters, Abdur Rahman, the main financer of Ashulia JMB, was arrested along with Tk 30 lakh from Bipile of Ashulia area in the upazila.

It also said Rahman's family members were also arrested by RAB members.

A RAB official, wishing anonymity, said on information that some militants are staying at a five-storey building in the area, team of the elite force conducted a drive there on Saturday afternoon.  

Sensing presence of the RAB members, Rahman jumped from the top floor of the building and suffered serious injuries.  

Later, he was arrested and taken to Enam Medical College Hospital.

Savar Police Station Officer-in-charge S M Kamruzzaman Rahman succumbed to his injuries at about 11:00pm, said.
