About Bangladesh Nationalist Party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s press briefing on Sunday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, ‘She is continuously telling lie not only in Bangladesh but also in abroad.’

Sheikh Hasina came up with the remark while addressing a press briefing on Sunday about the outcomes of her recent Indonesia tour to attend Asian-African Conference Commemoration Indonesia 2015.

The press conference started at 4:00pm in her official residence, Ganabhban, in Dhaka.  The prime minister had been in Indonesia on a three-day official tour on 21-23 April.

During her stay in Indonesia, the she delivered her speech at the Plenary Session 2 of the Asian African Conference Commemoration Indonesia at BalaiSidang Jakarta Convention Centre (JCC).

Earthquake cannot be predicted

Asked what precautionary measures have taken by the government, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘About 18,000 volunteers were given training to prevent natural disasters after it happens.’

Media presented partial report on Khaleda Zia attack

The prime minister accused media of playing a biased role in presenting reports on the attack on Khaleda Zia motorcade at Banglamotor. She showed a photo in which a man was pictured lying under the speeding car of BNP chairperson’s security members. She said no television channel or any other form of news media bothered to show the picture. She claimed that Khaleda Zia’s car crushed two ‘passers-by’ before being attacked by the angry mob. But, the media, the PM said, only focused on who attacked Khaleda Zia hiding why she was attacked in the first place. Sheikh Hasina said that there were attempts to prove that those who attacked Khaleda Zia were Chhatra League and Juba League men. Reports with red marked photos of the attackers identifying them as Chhatra League leaders were run by different online media the next day after the attack.

Nearly 150 people killed during hartal and blockade

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Nearly 150 people killed in 92 days long countrywide hartal and blockade programmes enforced by BNP-led 20-Party Alliance in the country.’ ‘About 665 BNP-Jamaat activists were detained for keeping bombs. People held about 70 arsonists from the spot and lynched,’ she added.

Khaleda Zia responsible

The prime minister said, ‘It’s Khaleda Zia who is responsible for killing and burning people, not we.’

BNP bribed FBI for killing Joy

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘BNP has offered bribe to Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to abduct and to kill Sajeeb Wazed Joy.’
