Autopsies on 11 militants’ bodies done
Dhaka: Autopsies on the bodies of 11 militants, who were killed in separate operations in Gazipur and Tangail on Saturday, were done on Sunday.
In Gazipur, the postmortems of nine militants, who were killed in their dens at Harinal and Patertek in the city, were carried out at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in the evening.
A three-member medical board, headed by Dr Abul Kalam Azad, conducted the autopsies on the bodies of the nine slain militants, said Gazipur Civil Surgeon Dr Ali Haider Khan.
He said they also collected various samples for DNA tests.
Dr Ali Haider said they found several injury marks, including bullet signs and bruises, in the bodies.
He also said the bodies will be sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMH) in the capital to keep those at its mortuary.
Meanwhile, a case was filed in connection with the killings of nine suspected militants.
In Tangail, doctors did the postmortem of two alleged militants, killed in a joint operation by police and Rab members at a house in Kagmara area of the district town, at Tangail Medical College Hospital in the afternoon.
Eleven suspected militants, including JMB Dhaka regional commander Akash, were killed in separate operations conducted by police and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members in their hideouts in Gazipur and Tangail districts on Saturday.
