Jessore: Two people were killed as a train ran them over in front of Churamonkati High School at Meherullah rail crossing in Sadar upazila of Jessore on Monday morning.

The deceased are Samir, in his twenties, resident of Badhdanga village, and Shukur, in his thirties, of Churamonkati Bazar area in the upazila.

Jessore railway station Master Pushpal Kundu said the accident took place at about 6:30am when a Dhaka-bound express train from Khulna hit the duo while they were crossing the railway tracks in the area, leaving them dead on the spot.

Government Railway Police recovered the bodies and sent to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
