Tampaco factory rescue operation called off

Gazipur: Gazipur district administration on Monday called off the rescue operation and removal of rubbles at the fire-ravaged factory Tampaco Foils Ltd.
The Gazipur Deputy commissioner SM Alam declared conclusion of the drive in the morning from a programme.
Lt Col Shafiul Azam, official of 14th Independent Engineers Brigade, Asadur Rahman Kiron, acting mayor of Gazipur city, and officials of police and the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) were present at the programme.
‘We have decided to call off the rescue operation as there is no possibility to recover any more body from the site,’ said the DC.
Earlier on 10 September, a fire, apparently triggered by a boiler explosion, at the packaging factory killed at last 39 people and injured nearly 40 while the blaze collapsed parts of the four-storey building.
