Ibrahim was a resident of Dhaka’s Bongshal area. He was one of seven suspected militants who were killed in a drive at a house in Patartek area of Gazipur on Saturday.

Gazipur: Family members on Tuesday identified three of the seven suspected militants who were killed in a drive at a house in Patartek area of Gazipur on Saturday.

One of them was said to be Saiful Islam Babul of Chhatak upazila in Sylhet, while another Ibrahim, son of Azimuddin, a resident of Dhaka’s Bongshal area. Neo JMB Dhaka division commander Faridul Islam Akash's identity was known earlier. He was a resident of Sirajganj.

Seeing the photos of the slain militants published in different daily newspapers, the family members of the two identified them, said Police Super of the district Harun-or-Rashid.

“Necessary steps will be taken after scrutinising their claim,” he told a press briefing at his office in the afternoon.

Ibrahim’s father Azimuddin said Ibrahim, a student of a local madrasah, went missing three months ago. A general diary was also lodged with the police station concerned in this connection, he said.

He also demanded punishment of those who made his innocent son a militant.

The police super said three, out of the seven militants killed in the Patertek drive, have been identified so far.

On Saturday, the seven suspected militants, including Neo JMB commander Akash, son of Abu Syed Munshi of Paschim Baroitali village in Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj, were killed during the drive conducted by the counter-terrorism unit of police at Patartek.
