Barisal: A case was filed against four people including Barisal City Corporation (BCC) Mayor Ahsan Habib Kamal on a charge of attempting to occupy a piece of land illegally in the city.

Mosharef Hossain Hawladar, a resident of the city and the owner of the disputed land, filed the case with the court of Senior Assistant Judge Mohammad Hadiuzzaman on Tuesday.

The Chief Executive Officer, Chief Engineer and Secretary of Barisal City Corporation were the other three accused of connivance with the mayor.

Azad Rahman, a lawyer of the plaintiff, said owner of the plot situated under Ward 22 of the city corporation, Mosharef Howladar received threats from the accused in their efforts to occupy the land for construction of a road.

A legal notice has been sent to the accused but they paid no heed to it.
