Jessore: A union council member was shot to death by miscreants at Godkhali Mathpara in Jhikargachha upazila on Thursday morning.

The deceased was identified as Rahat Jan, 42, a member of Godkhali union parishad of the upazila and son of Jalil Sarder.

Officer-in-charge of Jhikargachha Masud Karim said a gang of miscreants shot Rahat at a salon in the area around 9.15, leaving him dead on the spot.

Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
