DMCH crash: Ambulance assistant to be quizzed
Dhaka: A Dhaka court on Sunday put ambulance helper Sirajul Islam Sohel on a one-day police custody for interrogation in a case filed in connection with the killing of four people and a baby in its mother womb in a road crash in front of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrata Shikder passed the order after sub-inspector Shah Alam of Shahbagh Police Station, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court seeking a seven-day police custody for interrogation.
Four people and a baby in its mother womb were killed and five others injured as an ambulance ploughed through a crowd in front of the DMCH on Saturday morning.
Later, Mohammad Ferdous, husband of victim Amena Begum Surjya, 30, a six-month expecting mother, filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station against ambulance owner Mahfuz, its driver Sohag, helper Sohel and several unknown persons.
