Routes to avoid during WB president’s visit
Dhaka: The authorities of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP, Traffic) is set to impose restrictions on vehicular movement on specific routes ahead of World Bank president Jim Yong Kim’s visit.
A statement issued by DMP (Traffic) Additional Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed stated that the vehicular movement on different major roads in Dhaka’s Shahbagh, Mohakhali, Dhanmondi and Agargaon areas will be held off for certain periods today.
The restrictions would be slapped as per the travelling schedule of the World Bank chief, added the statement.
It also expressed sincerest apologies in advance.
Mosleh Uddin anticipated the utmost cooperation of the public in this regard.
The WB boss reached Dhaka Sunday on eve of the ‘International Day on Poverty Alleviation.’
The WB president is set to participate in the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty celebrations today.
Apart from attending a number of programmes, Kim will participate in a public discussion on poverty elimination on Tuesday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to present at the event.
Later, he will deliver speech at a panel discussion titled ‘End global poverty by 2030, the Bangladesh experience.’
He will leave for Barisal to inspect a few world Bank financed projects the same day.
