ACC arrests 3 graft suspects
Dhaka: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Tuesday arrested three graft suspects, including a Rajuk official and a trader, from the capital, Noakhali and Chittagong in separate graft cases.
ACC deputy director SM Rafiqul Islam arrested Rajuk authorised officer Mizanur Rahman (Rajuk office, Mohakhali) from the city’s Segunbagicha area, ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB.
Earlier in the day, the Commission filed a case against two Rajuk officials, including him, with Banani Police Station for allegedly approving the design of a commercial building by counterfeiting signatures of the members of the Rajuk’s design approval committee.
ACC deputy assistant director Hossain Sharif of its Noakhali office arrested field worker of Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) Mizanur Rahman Mizan from Noakhali.
On 19 July 2016, the ACC filed a case against him with Sudarampur Police Station, Noakhali, for allegedly swindling about Tk 21 lakh from BRDB Noakhali office.
Besides, ACC assistant director MH Rahmantullah of Chittagong zila office arrested trader Shamsul Alam Talukder from Agrabad commercial area of the port city.
On 2 March 2015, the Commission filed a case against Shamsul and a bank official for allegedly plundering Tk 1.15 crore from Rupali Bank’s Bibirhat corporate branch in Chittagong.
